A Prayer for More Fragrant Communication - Solution Step
God, I know that effective, Godly communication is vital for healthy relationships and that when one person or both people involved in the relationship cannot or will not communicate in a Christ-like, effective way, it hinders ALL communication. Therefore, Lord, I ask for Your forgiveness for any ineffective, stinky, idle, empty, careless, or unprofitable word (Matthew 12:36), for any foolish or filthy talk (Ephesian 5:4), and for any godless chatter and irrelevant babble (1 Timothy 6:20) that has come from my mouth. Please, Lord, put a guard over my mouth, take control of what I say, keep watch over the door of my lips (Psalm 141:3), and let no unwholesome talk come out of my mouth but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29) Help me to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and in gentleness (2 Timothy 2:25) and help me to speak with clarity, kindness, tenderness, and forgiveness. (Ephesians 4:32) Help me to glorify You with my words and help my words to bring life. (Proverbs 18:21) Knowing that what comes out of my mouth is just the overflow of what is truly in my heart (Matthew 12:24 and Luke 6:45), I ask that the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14) May my conversation always have an aroma that is fragrant and pleasing to You. Thank You, God. Amen.
